ITRI Information and Communications Research Laboratories (ICL) and the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS) at Tohoku University jointly held a 6G workshop. Led by Professor Emeritus Fumiyuki Adachi, IRIDeS brought a delegation of professors to Taiwan for in-depth technical exchanges with the ITRI ICL team.
The discussions covered a wide range of forward-looking topics, including 6G and low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, non-terrestrial networks (NTN), resilient communication networks, energy-efficient communications, reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) controllers, and the integration of optical and wireless transmission technologies.
Through a full day of academic and technical discussions, both parties shared the latest research outcomes and practical experiences. The workshop not only strengthened collaboration between Taiwanese and Japanese research teams, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation and the advancement of next-generation 6G technologies.
