At MWC 2026, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) signed Memoranda of Intent (MOIs) with the UK’s two flagship national 6G initiatives-TITAN and JOINER-establishing a collaborative framework to advance technology development, cross-border validation, and talent exchange.
Led by the University of Cambridge, the TITAN program focuses on the integration of optical communications, wireless technologies, and satellite systems. Meanwhile, JOINER brings together leading UK research institutions to build large-scale open experimental networks, accelerating technology testing and prototype validation.
Through this collaboration, ITRI will integrate key technologies including O-RAN, AI-driven networking, integrated sensing and communications (ISAC), and satellite communications to enable seamless convergence of terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks.
This partnership highlights ITRI’s commitment to international collaboration and strengthens Taiwan’s position in 6G technology development, testing and validation, and global standardization—enhancing its influence and competitiveness within the next-generation communications ecosystem.
